Podgora & Makarska Riviera

Makarska Riviera

Beautiful beaches strung one after the other, each covered by smooth, white pebbles, interspaced by cliffs and sheltered by pine trees are considered to be one of the major attractions and are regarded by many as the most scenic of the Adriatic Coast.

Biokovo Mountain provides a magnificent backdrop to the clear waters and  dozens of seaside villages including Podgora.

Podgora enjoys mild Mediterranean climate with more than 2700 sunny hours a year and the warm sea that is pleasant for swimming from May until October. It’s enthralling scenery, beautiful promenade, lovely little port, plenty of cafés and restaurants and kaleidoscope of welcoming locals make Podgora a great destination for a relaxing holiday.

For more active holiday makers  there is a wide variety of water sports and scuba diving. Tennis courts are in the close vicinity of apartments.

Daily boat trips to islands Brac, Hvar & Korcula leave from the jetty in the centre of the town.

Owing to its excellent location Podgora is perfect place to start your adventure with day trips to:

Biokovo Nature Park

This imposing mountain is by far the greatest sight of the Central Dalmatian coastline. There are few places in the Mediterranean where peaks of over 1,500 metres high come so close to the sea and where mountains rise so steeply as they do here.  Apart from rich flora and fauna  Biokovo has beautiful hiking and cycling trails, pleasant resting places that reveal heart-stopping panoramic wievs of sea and nearby islands and interesting historical remains dating from the times when many shepherds roamed this difficult terrain. Today, the nature park and its highest peak, the 1762 m high Sveti Jure, can be easily reached by road.

Entrance to the Park only 3km away.

A palace of only one man, even if he was an emperor, became big enough for a whole small town, today historical centre of Split.

Without hiding their pride, the people of Split will tell you that their city is «the most beautiful one in the world and beyond». You'd better not to discuss this with them for well spirited Split will convince you in this as soon as you discover it!

This for ever young city with the population of about 200 000 that give it its warm Mediterranean temper, has lived its urban rhythm for as long as 1700 years, with its heart in the Diocletian's Palace and its soul widespread to embrace you.

Trogir - A monument of culture

The whole town is a monumnet of immense value; this was confirmed in 1997 when Trogir was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Take a walk along the nerrow streets of Trogir that puts you back in the 13th century, the time when this town between the mainland and Čiovo island thrived and more or less took on the appearance it has today.

... falling in love with Dubrovnik, that priceless gem of World Cultural Heritage, will not require more than a glance!

Enclosed within thick medieval walls and fortresses constantly pounded by the sea, it radiates an eternal and astonishing beauty.

A stroll from one city gate to another will be a stroll from the Romanesque and Gothic to the high Renaissance to Baroque.

Visit one of the largest and most beautiful cities in the naighbouring country of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in medieval times guarded the Old Bridge over the Neretva river. The Old Bridge, 28 m long, 20m high - a wonder of its time, today is the city's most recognizable landmark.
